Paragould, Arkansas – A Paragould man has been arrested after authorities said he forced his way into a home and seriously injured another person, leaving the victim in need of reconstructive facial surgery.
According to police records, Zachary Huffman, 35, was taken into custody Monday following an investigation into an alleged violent incident that happened at a Paragould residence. Authorities said the victim was later transported to a trauma center in Memphis for treatment, where the person was undergoing reconstructive facial surgery.
The investigation began after police received a report on July 26 about an alleged break-in and assault. An affidavit stated that Huffman kicked in the door of the victim’s home before entering and attacking the person inside.
When officers arrived and examined the scene, they reportedly found signs of a forced entry. Police said evidence included blood spots located both inside and outside the home, as well as a heavily damaged interior door.

Investigators continued collecting evidence as part of the case and later interviewed Huffman. According to the affidavit, Huffman admitted to entering the home and striking the victim during the interview.
Following the investigation, District Judge Curtis Hitt determined there was probable cause to move forward with charges against Huffman. He was charged with aggravated residential burglary, second-degree battery and first-degree criminal mischief.
The charges are related to allegations that Huffman illegally entered the residence, caused physical harm to the victim and damaged property inside the home. Court records show that the case involves serious felony allegations, though the charges remain accusations unless proven in court.
Judge Hitt set Huffman’s bond at $500,000 through a surety bond. As part of the conditions of his release, Huffman was ordered to have no contact with the victim, witnesses or other individuals connected to the case.

The judge also placed additional restrictions on Huffman, including a prohibition on possessing weapons and a requirement that he follow ankle monitor conditions.
Authorities have not released additional details about what may have led to the alleged confrontation or whether the victim and Huffman knew each other before the incident.
The investigation remains active as the legal process continues. Huffman’s case will proceed through the court system, where further hearings and proceedings will determine the next steps.
Officials continue to remind the public that criminal charges are allegations and that defendants are considered innocent unless they are found guilty in court.
