Little Rock, Arkansas – A North Little Rock adult entertainment club has lost its liquor license following a decision by the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board. Officials announced on Wednesday that the Peppermint Hippo, located off Interstate 40, has had its Private Club Class B permit revoked, a license that previously allowed the club to remain open until 5 a.m.
Board Director Christy Bjornson said the decision came after reports of multiple serious violations at the club, some of which resulted in injuries or death, creating what officials described as an “immediate danger to public health.” Authorities also cited unauthorized credit card transactions, including some totaling tens of thousands of dollars, as a factor in the revocation. Police investigations into these financial transactions, involving multiple open felony cases, further contributed to the ABC board’s decision.
“The decision was made due to repeated violations and the risk posed to public safety,” Bjornson said. “These actions demonstrated a disregard for the laws and regulations designed to protect the public.”
The revocation of the license is effective immediately, but the Peppermint Hippo has 15 days to appeal before the full ABC board. Officials confirmed that the revocation will remain in place throughout the appeal process. During this period, the club cannot legally serve alcohol or operate under the privileges provided by the Class B permit.
Attempts to reach the Peppermint Hippo for comment were not successful, as calls to the establishment went directly to voicemail. ABC officials stated that any updates or responses from the club will be included in future reporting.
The revocation highlights the ABC board’s commitment to enforcing state liquor laws and protecting public safety, particularly when establishments are found to be in violation of regulations or involved in criminal activity. The ABC board manages licensing and regulation of alcoholic beverage sales in Arkansas and monitors compliance to ensure businesses operate safely and legally.
For residents and patrons of North Little Rock, the decision brings immediate changes to the nightlife landscape in the area. Patrons who frequented the Peppermint Hippo will now need to look elsewhere for late-night entertainment, as the club is no longer permitted to sell or serve alcohol.
Additional information about the ABC board, licensing, and appeal processes is available on its official website. The board encourages any individuals with concerns or information regarding violations at licensed establishments to contact them directly.
As investigations continue and the appeal process unfolds, officials emphasize that public safety remains the priority, and the ABC board will continue to take decisive action when violations pose significant risks to the community.
