Little Rock, Arkansas – The Little Rock Police Department is investigating a suspicious death that occurred early Monday morning in the area of Arch Street and 65th Street, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old woman on a capital murder charge.
According to police, officers responded around 1 a.m. to the 6500 block of Arch Street after receiving reports of a vehicle accident involving possible entrapment. When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the driver, identified as 18-year-old Kadayasha Ellis.
Investigators said Ellis told officers that she and a passenger had been involved in a “disturbance” before the crash happened. Police said the passenger left the scene following the incident.
Authorities continued searching for the missing passenger and, more than 10 hours later, located 35-year-old Tony Harper of North Little Rock in a nearby wooded area.
After further investigation, police determined that Ellis was responsible for Harper’s death, according to the Little Rock Police Department. Ellis was then taken into custody and charged with capital murder.
Police have not released additional details about what led to the disturbance or the events that occurred before the crash. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and work to establish a complete timeline of what happened.
The case remains active, and authorities said more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
The Little Rock Police Department has not provided further details about the relationship between Ellis and Harper or whether additional arrests are expected.
The investigation highlights the importance of ongoing police work following incidents that initially appear to involve only accidents. In this case, officers responding to the crash later uncovered information that led them to investigate a suspected homicide.
Ellis will face the capital murder charge through the court system as authorities continue examining the circumstances surrounding Harper’s death. Further updates are expected as detectives continue their investigation.
