Saline County, Arkansas – Motorists traveling along Interstate 30 in Saline County should prepare for temporary changes this week as construction crews close one of the eastbound exit ramps overnight. The I-30 eastbound off-ramp at Exit 116 (Sevier Street/South Street) will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, through 6 a.m. Thursday, October 23, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
The brief closure will allow crews to move a concrete barrier wall as part of ongoing improvements along the busy highway. While the work is scheduled to take place overnight to minimize traffic disruptions, drivers should still plan ahead and use caution when traveling through the area. The closure is weather permitting, meaning the schedule could change if conditions are unfavorable.

During the closure, signage will be posted along the interstate to alert motorists of the upcoming detour. Drivers who normally exit at Sevier Street or South Street are advised to take Exit 117 (Congo Road) as an alternative route. Once crews complete the barrier relocation, the ramp will reopen to traffic early Thursday morning.
Traffic in the construction zone will be controlled using barrels, cones, and warning signs, and reduced speeds should be expected. Officials urge drivers to stay alert, obey posted signs, and allow extra time for overnight travel. “The public is advised to be cautious when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds,” the department stated.
Residents and businesses near the construction area may notice increased noise during the nighttime hours while work is underway. Such noise is typical during highway construction projects, particularly when crews move heavy equipment and barriers.
The closure is part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and safety along Interstate 30, one of the most heavily traveled routes in central Arkansas. Officials continue to schedule these short-term nighttime closures to limit the impact on daytime commuters while keeping the project on track.
