Jefferson County, Arkansas – On March 27, 2025, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a disturbing report of possible human remains discovered along the Arkansas River near Knotts Island. The call, made at approximately 5:30 p.m., was received by the Metropolitan Emergency Communication Association from a concerned citizen who reported seeing the remains on the riverbank.
Upon arrival, JCSO deputies were led to the exact location by the caller, where they confirmed that the remains were indeed human. This discovery prompted a swift response from the JCSO Criminal Investigations Division, which arrived at the scene to photograph the remains and begin the process of recovery.
The remains were then carefully transported by a Jefferson County Deputy Coroner to the coroner’s office for further examination. Investigators are now working to identify the individual and determine the cause of death. The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory will analyze the remains as part of the ongoing investigation.
