Pine Bluff, Arkansas – A major manufacturing project is planned for Pine Bluff Arsenal, with Hanwha Defense USA preparing to establish a new facility that is expected to create hundreds of jobs in the area.
The company announced plans for a Hanwha Advanced Manufacturing Campus at the U.S. Army Pine Bluff Arsenal. Hanwha has already established an administration headquarters at the Arsenal as it moves forward with its plans for the larger operation.
The proposed campus represents a significant investment in the local area. Hanwha Defense USA said it plans to invest about $2.2 billion in the project, which is expected to expand domestic munitions manufacturing.
“By opening our new office in Pine Bluff that will oversee local operations, Hanwha plans to invest around $2.2 billion in our new Advanced Manufacturing Campus that will transform domestic munitions industrial base and further strengthen America’s arsenal of freedom,” Hanwha Defense USA CEO Michael Coulter said.
The project is also expected to have a noticeable effect on employment in Pine Bluff. More than 400 jobs are expected to be created over a seven-year period as the new manufacturing campus is developed and operations grow.
The facility will focus on producing 55mm propellant charges and base bleed units. Those products will form a central part of the manufacturing work planned for the Pine Bluff location.
