Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a heartfelt statement following the passing of State Senator Gary Stubblefield, who represented District 26. Known for his dedication to public service and his tireless work on behalf of the River Valley, Stubblefield leaves behind a legacy of leadership, toughness, and commitment to his constituents.

Governor Sanders noted that Stubblefield’s toughness was evident in every aspect of his life. “I don’t know if Gary earned his toughness playing Razorback football, raising dairy cows in Branch, or participating in the contact sport that is Arkansas politics, but everyone knew him as a tough leader who would work hard to serve the River Valley – and still end the day with a smile on his face,” she said.

The governor also acknowledged the significant void Stubblefield’s passing leaves in the Arkansas Senate. “His passing leaves a hole in the Senate that will be hard to fill, and my prayers right now are with Kathi, the Stubblefields’ two children, and all who knew and loved this hardworking public servant,” Sanders added.

Stubblefield was widely respected for his dedication to his constituents and his ability to combine firmness with approachability. He was known not only for his legislative work but also for the personal connections he fostered with colleagues, community members, and fellow Arkansans.

Senator Stubblefield’s contributions and service will be remembered as a testament to his commitment to his community, his family, and the state he served with dedication throughout his career.
