Little Rock, Arkansas – A demanding three-day military competition is set to take place at Camp Joseph T. Robinson from May 18 to May 20, bringing together soldiers who will be tested across physical, technical, and endurance-based challenges in pursuit of internationally recognized military awards.

The event, hosted at the Professional Education Center in North Little Rock, will feature the German Armed Forces Badge and Schützenschnur Competition, a structured evaluation designed to measure military proficiency and physical readiness. Soldiers participating in the competition will go through multiple phases, each one focused on different skill sets required in modern military service.

According to officials, candidates will be expected to demonstrate a high level of physical fitness alongside strong technical abilities in weapons handling and field performance. The German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, one of the key awards available during the event, is widely regarded as one of the most respected achievements a soldier can earn through this program.

Over the course of three days, participants will be judged on their performance in a series of structured tests that increase in complexity and intensity. Each stage is designed to push endurance, discipline, and precision under pressure.

Monday, May 18 will mark the opening day of competition, beginning with a 100-meter swim test followed by a transition to the RMTC PT field for the Basic Fitness Test. This portion includes short sprints, a flexed-arm hang, and a timed 1,000-meter run. The combination is intended to evaluate both upper-body strength and overall cardiovascular endurance in a controlled but demanding environment.

On Tuesday, May 19, the focus will shift to weapons proficiency during the Marksmanship Qualification phase. Competitors will first travel to Range 7 for rifle qualification before moving to Range 3 for pistol qualification. Officials say accuracy, control, and consistency will be key factors in determining performance during this stage of the event.

The final day of competition, Wednesday, May 20, will feature a ruck march designed to test endurance and load-bearing capability. Depending on the badge tier each participant is pursuing, soldiers will complete a timed march of either 6, 9, or 12 kilometers while carrying standard military gear.

The ruck march is often considered one of the most physically demanding portions of the competition, requiring not only stamina but also mental resilience as participants push through fatigue in varying terrain and conditions.

Military leaders say the competition serves a dual purpose. It provides a formal pathway for recognition while also reinforcing readiness standards and strengthening cohesion among participating units. Events like this are structured to simulate real-world conditions where physical endurance and technical skill must work together under pressure.

The Schützenschnur and German Armed Forces Badge program has long been viewed as a benchmark of military excellence, and earning the badge is considered a significant accomplishment for any service member participating in the evaluation.

As the event approaches, organizers emphasize that preparation, discipline, and consistency will be the deciding factors in success. For those competing, the three-day schedule represents not only a test of ability but also an opportunity to earn one of the military’s more distinguished foreign qualification awards.
