Jonesboro, Arkansas – Despite a slight increase in the national average, Arkansas drivers experienced yet another decrease in gas prices.
According to GasBuddy.com, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Arkansas decreased by 3.4 cents last week, bringing it to $2.55 per gallon.
That’s a decrease of 6.9 cents compared to what drivers paid last month.
Last week, the national average increased by 0.8 cents per gallon, reaching $2.98.
“As we approach the year’s end, the momentum for declining gas prices is showing signs of weakening, which is common as the national average typically reaches its lowest point between Thanksgiving and Christmas,” stated Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“As oil prices surged past $70 last week, the likelihood of gas prices decreasing significantly appears limited.”
He mentioned that certain regions might experience a “second window” of reduced prices in January or February.
“However, he warned that this situation is unlikely to endure for long.”
