Jonesboro, Arkansas – As temperatures drop, gas prices are on the rise.
According to GasBuddy.com, average gasoline prices in Arkansas increased by 3 cents over the past week, reaching $2.69 per gallon.
The current figure reflects an increase of 5.4 cents compared to a month prior and a rise of 9.6 cents from the same time last year.
Last week, the national average increased by 6.5 cents per gallon, reaching $3.09.
“The national average was bound to increase, especially with oil prices hitting their peak last week, the highest since July,” stated Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis.
He noted that prices may be influenced by any executive orders signed by Donald Trump after his inauguration.
“We will keep a vigilant eye on any potential effects from the orders, as the looming threat of tariffs and possible retaliation from Canada are significant concerns,” De Haan stated.
“Nonetheless, the present uptick does not yet reflect the usual seasonal surge, which is expected to drive prices up further and may commence in a few weeks.”
