Jonesboro, Arkansas – Both nationally and in Arkansas, gas costs are gradually rising.
The average price of petrol in Arkansas increased by 3.5 cents per gallon to $2.82 last week, according to a survey released by GasBuddy on Monday. It’s 11.4 cents more than it was a month ago.
At $3.11, the national average increased by 2.2 cents a gallon.
“Significant increases in gas prices on the West Coast, where refinery maintenance and outages have caused a ripple effect in neighboring states, pushing prices higher in many communities, have been the main driver of the national average’s slight increase,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
He warns that once refineries in other areas transition to summer gasoline mixes, prices will “probably start rising,” even if the rise is currently only occurring on the West Coast.
As President Trump works on a possible peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, “oil prices are still muted in the low $70s—an event that, if realized, could have significant implications for oil markets in the months ahead,” De Haan said.
