Little Rock, Arkansas – The City of Little Rock continues its commitment to supporting older residents with the February meeting of the Age-Friendly Little Rock Commission, a board focused on the needs of adults aged 55 and older. The commission, composed of 15 appointed members, works to study the city’s aging population, identify gaps in services, and advise city leaders on solutions that empower and improve the lives of older adults.
The February meeting is scheduled for the third Thursday of the month, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and will be held at the West Central Community Center, located at 8616 Colonel Glenn Road. Meetings are open to the public, giving residents an opportunity to engage with the board, provide input, and learn about ongoing initiatives designed to enhance age-friendly services across the city.
Through collaboration and research, the commission identifies critical needs among older adults, coordinates solutions with city departments and community partners, and develops strategies to ensure residents can remain active, connected, and supported. This work encompasses a wide range of topics, from transportation and health resources to social programs and accessibility improvements.
“By studying our aging population and identifying needs and gaps, we aim to provide solutions that directly improve the quality of life for older adults in Little Rock,” said commission members. “Our role is not only advisory but also to empower older residents by connecting them to resources and opportunities that matter most.”
The Age-Friendly Little Rock Commission meets regularly to ensure that the city remains responsive to its growing senior population. Each monthly session allows members to review progress on ongoing projects, discuss emerging concerns, and coordinate with community organizations to provide targeted support.
For residents interested in attending or learning more, the February meeting at the West Central Community Center provides a chance to hear updates, ask questions, and contribute ideas. The commission encourages public participation as part of its mission to create an inclusive, supportive environment for older adults.
By maintaining a dedicated focus on adults aged 55 and older, the Age-Friendly Little Rock Commission ensures that the city remains attentive to the evolving needs of its aging population while fostering a sense of community, connection, and empowerment.
