Drivers on Interstate 30 in Saline County should expect lane closures during overnight hours this month as pavement work is underway

Saline County, Arkansas – Starting this month, drivers traveling along Interstate 30 in Saline County will experience periodic overnight lane closures due to ongoing pavement work. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced that crews will be conducting work on both eastbound and westbound lanes between Highway 70 (Exit 111) and Sevier Street (Exit 116) in Benton.

The scheduled lane closures, weather permitting, will take place during overnight hours, with work beginning at 9 p.m. and concluding by 6 a.m. the following morning. To ensure safety and accommodate the necessary repairs, traffic in the affected areas will be reduced by at least one lane during these hours. In some cases, either the inside or outside lanes will be closed, depending on the work zone.

Traffic management will be handled using construction barrels, proper signage, and the assistance of the Arkansas Highway Police. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert when traveling through the construction zone, watch for slower-moving vehicles, and follow all posted traffic instructions. Those in the area should also be aware that the work may create some noise disturbances, particularly during nighttime hours, as crews carry out their tasks.

This pavement work is part of a larger, ongoing project under ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program. The focus of the project (Job CA0601) is to widen a 5.5-mile stretch of Interstate 30 to three lanes in each direction. The work spans from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116) and includes improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114).

The total cost of the project is estimated at $187.3 million, and it is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow and safety for drivers traveling this busy corridor. The completed project will not only improve the quality of the pavement but also accommodate future traffic demands as the area continues to grow.

For those interested in learning more about the project or tracking its progress, additional information can be found on theofficial  Connecting Arkansas Program website at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com. The public is advised to plan ahead and remain patient as this essential work continues to improve the infrastructure of Interstate 30.
