Conway, Arkansas – Nearly a year after opening its doors, the Conway Community Center has quickly become one of the city’s most popular destinations, attracting families looking for ways to stay active, cool off, and spend time together during the hot summer months.

The facility officially opened on July 17, 2025, and since then, hundreds of families from Conway and surrounding communities have visited the center to enjoy its wide range of activities and amenities.

Located as a major recreational resource for the growing city, the community center offers something for visitors of all ages. The facility includes an eight-lane competition pool, a fitness center, volleyball and pickleball courts, and an outdoor aquatic area featuring a lazy river, tot pool, and water slides.

With so many options available, officials say many visitors are choosing to spend entire days at the center rather than traveling farther away for entertainment.

Bobby Kelly, the communications coordinator and spokesperson for Conway’s mayor, said the success of the community center reflects the city’s continued growth and investment in local amenities.

“It’s good to see families locally and from surrounding areas coming in and enjoying this facility,” Kelly said. “It’s been packed every weekend that I’ve been here, and we use our online headcount tool to keep track, and I’m telling you it’s always to capacity, just about every day that we open it up.”

As temperatures rise during the summer, more residents have turned to the center as a convenient place to cool off and enjoy recreational activities without having to travel long distances.

For many families, the facility provides an affordable and nearby alternative to driving an hour or more to find similar attractions.

The popularity of the center has also led many residents to purchase memberships, allowing them regular access to the pools, fitness areas, and other activities throughout the year.

“It’s so beautiful to see people of all different ages finding joy at our community center,” Kelly said. “As Conway grows, residents expect amenities that match the needs of a growing city. This center is part of that larger effort to invest in quality of life.”

For employees who helped bring the project to life, seeing the community embrace the facility has been especially meaningful.

Alexis Rogers, marketing coordinator for the Conway Community Center, said the opening represents a special moment for her because she was born and raised in Conway. Watching the city continue to expand and develop new opportunities has been exciting, she said.

“I am really a big fan of our game room, the lazy river, and we get to meet new people all day, we get their feedback, and we get the chance to not only gain a new member but make a new friend and neighbor,” Rogers said.

Beyond the pools and recreational spaces, staff members say one of the most rewarding parts of the center’s success has been the connections being created among residents.

Families are meeting new neighbors, children are finding new activities to enjoy, and community members are building relationships in a shared public space.

As Conway continues to grow, city officials say the community center represents a larger effort to improve quality of life by providing residents with more opportunities close to home.

With its combination of fitness, recreation, and family-friendly entertainment, the Conway Community Center has quickly become more than just a place to escape the heat. It has become a gathering place where residents can stay active, create memories, and connect with others in the community.
