City of Searcy unveils newly renovated softball and baseball fields at Searcy Sports Complex with exciting re-opening ceremony

Searcy, Arkansas – The City of Searcy is celebrating a major milestone in its ongoing efforts to improve local infrastructure with the grand re-opening of the newly renovated softball and baseball fields at the Searcy Sports Complex. This significant update is the first completed project from the “#MySearcy” initiative, which is funded by a bond measure approved by local voters in 2024.

The much-anticipated re-opening took place on Monday, April 28, marking the beginning of the spring ball season. At 5:30 p.m., families, athletes, and local officials gathered to witness the transformation of the sports complex. The renovations have been eagerly awaited by the community, which has long advocated for better facilities to enhance local sports programs.

Searcy Mayor Mat Faulkner expressed excitement over the upgrades, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in shaping the vision for the city. “This is an exciting moment for our community as we celebrate the first completed project from the #MySearcy vision,” Mayor Faulkner said. “The upgrades are a direct reflection of what the community told us they wanted during the #MySearcy planning. We are grateful to the citizens of Searcy for making this possible.”

The renovation project, which cost over $1.4 million, involved a complete overhaul of the fields, with new bleachers, upgraded playing surfaces, and improved amenities to create a better experience for players, coaches, and spectators alike. The fields are now ready to host a variety of sporting events, from youth leagues to adult tournaments.

Chris Howell, Chairman of the Searcy A&P Commission, also weighed in on the significance of the improvements. “Helping fund improvements like the new bleachers at the Sports Complex is exactly the kind of project the A&P Commission is proud to support,” Howell said. “Facilities like this attract families, tournaments, and visitors to Searcy — boosting our local economy and making our city an even better place to live and visit.”

The renovation is part of the city’s larger commitment to investing in public spaces and enhancing the quality of life for residents. The #MySearcy initiative aims to address a variety of community needs, from recreational spaces to economic development, and this project sets the tone for future improvements across the city.

These upgrades represent a bright future for Searcy’s sports community and a commitment to creating spaces that bring people together.

As the city continues to move forward with the #MySearcy initiative, more exciting developments are expected to follow, making Searcy an even more vibrant and thriving place for residents and visitors alike. The successful completion of this project is a testament to the power of community involvement and the city’s dedication to improving the lives of its citizens.
