Cabot, Arkansas – The Cabot Panthers have officially named Lance Clark as their new head football coach and Director of Football Operations, the school announced on Thursday. Clark takes over from Scott Reed, who will now focus exclusively on his role as the school’s athletic director. The move signals a fresh start for a program looking to rebound from a challenging 4-7 season last year.
Clark brings a wealth of experience to the Panthers, having coached in both Arkansas and Alabama over the course of his career. Most recently, he served as head coach at Marion High School, where he earned recognition for his leadership and success on and off the field. Clark expressed excitement about his new role in Cabot, praising the team’s leadership and culture.
“Incredibly impressed with the leadership here. I’m super excited to work with them. It was super hard to leave Marion. I love that place, the leadership and support I had there, it’s a special place, but I’m super excited to get started here and seeing how awesome we can build something cool together,” Clark said.
Clark is eager to translate the accomplishments he achieved at Marion to the Panthers program. At Marion, he developed players not just as athletes, but as individuals, emphasizing discipline, accountability, and personal growth. He plans to bring the same approach to Cabot, focusing on building a team culture where players embrace challenges and commit to improvement.

“You have to get them to do hard things and embrace that and make sacrifices, and then you develop them as a player, and then teach them how they can own their process. What you don’t want is to sign a kid and then they are back home in two years, so you want that lasting impression. So how you do that is you try to develop the person, great people tend to make great football players with athleticism in there,” Clark said.
The Panthers are optimistic about the impact Clark will have on the program. Athletic director Scott Reed emphasized the importance of having a coach who can shape both the team’s performance and its culture. “We’re looking forward to Lance bringing his vision, experience, and leadership to Cabot,” Reed said.
Cabot fans are hopeful that Clark’s arrival will mark the start of a new era. The Panthers’ 4-7 record last season left room for growth, and Clark’s track record of developing successful programs suggests that the team could make significant strides in the coming years. By combining rigorous coaching with a focus on character development, Clark hopes to create a program that is strong, competitive, and respected both on and off the field.

Clark will begin his duties immediately, working with players, staff, and the community to prepare for the upcoming season. His approach emphasizes not only winning games but also shaping young athletes into leaders who understand the value of hard work and teamwork.
As Cabot football enters this new chapter, supporters, players, and staff alike are eager to see how Clark’s leadership and vision will transform the Panthers into a program that can compete at the highest level while leaving a lasting impact on its student-athletes.
