Broadway Street in North Little Rock will be closed for pavement repairs from Friday night through Sunday morning

North Little Rock, Arkansas – Motorists in North Little Rock are advised of a weekend closure on Broadway Street (Highway 70) below Interstate 30, scheduled to begin Friday, January 16, at 10 p.m. The closure will remain in effect around the clock until 6 a.m. Sunday, January 18, as crews work on important pavement repairs.

The work is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve roadway conditions in the area. Officials noted that weather permitting, construction crews will complete the repairs over the weekend, aiming to minimize disruption during the busy weekday hours. Drivers should expect detours and adjust travel plans accordingly.

A signed detour will guide eastbound traffic from Broadway Street to Cypress Street south, then east along Riverfront Drive before reconnecting to Broadway Street. Westbound drivers will be rerouted via Locust Street north to Bishop Lindsey Avenue west, then south on Cypress Street back to Broadway Street. Despite the closure, access will remain open to the I-30 westbound on-ramp at Broadway Street and the I-30 eastbound on-ramp at Bishop Lindsey Avenue. For detailed routing, travelers can refer to detour map NR 26-007-A.

“Construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place to notify motorists of the closures,” city officials said. They urged drivers to follow posted signs and exercise caution while navigating detour routes.

The closure affects a busy stretch of Broadway Street, a vital connector in North Little Rock, and officials stressed that completing repairs over the weekend is intended to reduce long-term traffic disruption. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and seek alternative routes if possible.

For additional updates on road conditions, detours, and other construction projects in the area, travelers can visit IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov. Officials emphasized that staying informed is critical, especially during scheduled closures that affect heavily traveled corridors.

Local authorities noted that while the closure may cause temporary inconvenience, the work is crucial for ensuring the safety and longevity of the roadway. Completing repairs efficiently over the weekend allows the area to return to normal operation by Monday morning, minimizing impact on daily commuters.

With the closure in effect for nearly two full days, drivers are reminded to exercise patience and follow detour instructions carefully. Proper planning and attention to signage will help maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure the safety of both workers and motorists during the repair project.
