Beyoncé’s father, Dr. Mathew Knowles, gives a speech at Philander Smith University

Little Rock, Arkansas – Destiny’s Child manager and Beyoncé’s father, Dr. Mathew Knowles, gave a speech at Philander Smith University on Friday afternoon.

Knowles spoke at the Kendall Center about how his career and his daughters’ careers were affected by his childhood and education at historically black schools and universities.

He described how he encourages others to think creatively while planning their futures by drawing on his parents’ entrepreneurial spirit and influence.

Discovering your passion is the first stage, according to Knowles.

“What is that one thing that makes you excited that you say you want to be one day and you’re working hard to achieve it before you go to sleep at night?” Knowles enquired. “What is your one area of extreme passion?”

He advised listing ten things you enjoy, removing five of them, then removing two more, and then carefully considering which of the three remaining items truly inspires you.

When you do what you love, you won’t have to work a day in your life, according to Knowles, and your work ethic will follow.
