Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will host a dedication ceremony for its newly constructed Fallen Worker Memorial, inviting the public to join families, colleagues, and current and retired employees in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the state. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1 p.m. on the grounds of the ARDOT Central Office, near the east parking lot at 10324 Interstate 30 in Little Rock.
The memorial serves as a permanent tribute to ARDOT employees who risked their lives every day to maintain and improve the state’s transportation system. From building and repairing highways to ensuring the safety of motorists and communities, these men and women played a vital role in shaping a stronger and more connected Arkansas. Tragically, some did not return home, and the memorial provides a space to remember their dedication and sacrifice.
“ARDOT employees put their lives on the line each day to provide a better transportation system and quality of life for all Arkansans,” the department said in a statement. “This Memorial honors the women and men of ARDOT who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our State. Their work – building, maintaining, and protecting our transportation system – is vital to the safety and well-being of all who travel our roads.”
The Fallen Worker Memorial is designed not only as a tribute but also as a place for reflection and remembrance. Families of the fallen, fellow employees, and visitors will be able to gather, pay their respects, and honor the contributions of those who dedicated their careers to public service. It underscores ARDOT’s commitment to acknowledging the risks its employees face and the lives lost in the line of duty.
“Through their dedication, they helped shape a stronger, more connected Arkansas,” ARDOT officials said. “The Monument offers a place of reflection and remembrance for all who visit. ARDOT is forever grateful for those who set out each day to serve their communities, improve our highway system, and protect our citizens, but never returned home.”
The dedication ceremony will include remarks from the Arkansas Highway Commission and ARDOT leadership, along with a moment of remembrance for the fallen employees. Community members are encouraged to attend and join in honoring those who have given so much for the state.
This memorial is a lasting symbol of respect, gratitude, and recognition for ARDOT workers who made sacrifices in the service of their fellow Arkansans. By highlighting their contributions and commitment, the state aims to ensure that their legacy is never forgotten and that future generations recognize the importance of those who protect and build Arkansas’ vital transportation network.
