According to information contained in a police report, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West Barraque Street at approximately 3:55 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area. The call prompted an immediate response from law enforcement as officers worked to assess the situation and locate anyone who may have been injured.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a man lying outside an apartment building. Investigators later identified the victim as Mackie Tidwell.
