Ashley County Health Unit in Crossett remains closed following winter storm damage with all services temporarily available in Hamburg

Crossett, Arkansas – The Ashley County Health Unit in Crossett remains closed until further notice following damage caused by last month’s severe winter storm. Health officials are urging residents who rely on the Crossett location for medical and public health services to instead visit the Ashley County Health Unit in Hamburg.

The Hamburg facility, located at 401 N. Cherry Street, continues to offer a full range of services previously available in Crossett. These include WIC nutrition programs, immunizations, women’s health services, prenatal care, STD testing and treatment, breastfeeding support, and access to vital records. Health officials emphasized that all services remain available at the Hamburg location to ensure that residents do not experience interruptions in care.

The Hamburg Health Unit is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents needing assistance or more information can contact the facility directly at 870-853-5525.

“The closure of the Crossett unit is temporary, but we want to make sure the community knows that care continues uninterrupted at the Hamburg location,” said local health officials. The office continues to monitor conditions at the Crossett site and will provide updates regarding reopening as soon as possible.

The winter storm that caused the closure brought unusually severe weather to the region, resulting in structural damage that requires assessment and repair. Until repairs are completed, public health services will remain centralized in Hamburg to maintain continuity of care.

Residents are encouraged to plan visits accordingly, especially for scheduled immunizations, prenatal appointments, or WIC consultations, to avoid any disruption to their health routines. Officials stressed that patient safety and service quality remain top priorities despite the temporary relocation.

By consolidating services at the Hamburg location, the Ashley County Health Unit aims to ensure that all residents continue to have access to essential health care, resources, and support programs without interruption. The community is asked to stay informed through official channels for updates on the Crossett unit’s reopening and any changes in service hours.

This temporary shift highlights the resilience of local health services in responding to unexpected challenges while keeping patient care at the forefront. Residents are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns as the situation evolves.
