Jacksonville, Arkansas – This Valentine’s Day, those hoping to add a furry friend to their family have a perfect opportunity to do so at Jacksonville Animal Services. The shelter is hosting a special adoption event titled “Love is a Four-Legged Word,” where potential pet owners can meet dozens of dogs and cats in need of loving homes.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the shelter located at 217 South Redmond Road in Jacksonville. More than 80 animals will be available for adoption, ranging from playful puppies to affectionate adult cats, all looking for a forever home. In an added incentive, adoption fees for the event will be fully covered by the Best Friends Animal Society, giving attendees a chance to bring a pet home without worrying about the usual costs.

“The Saturday event is free and open to the public,” shelter officials said. They noted that Jacksonville Animal Services has seen a recent influx of animals, creating a greater need for adoption efforts. The shelter is actively working to regain its no-kill status, emphasizing the importance of finding permanent homes for every animal that comes through their doors.

Officials hope the event will not only pair animals with loving families but also raise awareness about the shelter’s ongoing initiatives. Attendees can expect a variety of pets with different personalities, making it easier for everyone—from families to individuals—to find a companion that fits their lifestyle. The Valentine’s Day timing adds a festive touch, turning the search for a pet into a fun and meaningful outing for the community.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day while making a real difference in an animal’s life,” officials said. With adoption fees waived and dozens of furry friends ready to meet new families, Saturday’s event promises to be a memorable day for both pets and potential owners alike.
