Small plane makes emergency landing on a busy highway in Garland County with no injuries reported

Garland County, Arkansas – A small plane made a dramatic emergency landing on a highway in Garland County on Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed. The incident took place along the Highway-7 bypass extension near the AR-5 and AR-7 roundabout, drawing attention from drivers and local residents.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Office reported that, remarkably, everyone on board the aircraft is safe and no injuries were sustained. The plane came close to striking nearby power lines, highlighting the skill of the pilot in avoiding what could have been a far more serious situation.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area and ensure that the plane posed no immediate danger to passing motorists. Traffic in the area was temporarily slowed as officials coordinated the safe removal of the aircraft and assessed the surrounding environment for hazards.

“This could have been much worse, but thankfully, everyone is safe and there were no injuries,” a spokesperson for the Garland County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances that led to the emergency landing to determine whether mechanical issues, weather, or other factors played a role.

While the incident disrupted traffic for a short time, the quick response by law enforcement and the pilot’s careful maneuvering prevented what could have been a serious accident. Local residents shared their surprise at witnessing a plane come to a stop on a major roadway, with many noting the rarity of such events.

Officials continue to remind drivers to exercise caution when traveling through areas where emergency landings or unexpected incidents may occur. The safe resolution of this emergency landing serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness, quick thinking, and coordinated response between pilots and emergency personnel.
