Conway doctor accused of rape remains behind bars as five million dollar bond is upheld after court hearing

Conway, Arkansas – The $5 million bond for Dr. Guy Langley Peeples, a 65-year-old Conway-area doctor accused of rape and sexual assault, remains unchanged following a bond reduction hearing on Wednesday afternoon. Peeples, who surrendered his medical license amid the allegations, continues to await trial in the Faulkner County Detention Center.

Peeples was arrested on November 18 following an investigation into an incident that reportedly occurred on November 9 during an examination of a 70-year-old patient. According to authorities, the patient was observed by a virtual attendant assigned to the room at the time. He faces charges of felony rape and two counts of sexual assault in connection with the alleged incident.

At the hearing, Peeples’ attorney requested a reduction in the bond, citing his long-standing presence in the community and his voluntary surrender after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Court documents indicate that Peeples was at an inpatient treatment facility in Mississippi when he learned of the warrant. His current bond conditions require him to wear an ankle monitor and surrender his passport.

“It was an attempt to demonstrate his willingness to cooperate and maintain ties to the community,” the attorney argued during the proceedings. Despite these arguments, the court opted to maintain the existing bond, signaling the seriousness of the charges and the potential risk involved.

Twentieth Judicial District Prosecutor Carol Crews emphasized that her office remains focused on ensuring a full and fair trial.

“We are continuing to work closely with the Conway Police Department on this ongoing investigation and look forward to presenting this case to a Faulkner County jury and trust that justice will be served,” Crews said.

Peeples has remained in custody since his arrest, and the high bond reflects the gravity of the allegations against him. The case has drawn attention not only because of the severity of the charges but also because Peeples had been a longstanding member of the local medical community.

Court records show that the next scheduled hearing for Peeples is set for January 5, 2026. In the meantime, investigators continue to gather evidence as they prepare for the upcoming trial. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.

The Faulkner County community has followed developments closely, with local residents expressing concern over the allegations against a doctor who was once a familiar figure in the area. While Peeples’ defense team argues for his release under reduced bond, prosecutors and law enforcement have emphasized that maintaining the current bond helps protect the public and ensures that he remains available for court proceedings.

As the legal process moves forward, all eyes remain on the Faulkner County court system to see how the case will unfold. The balance between community trust, public safety, and due process continues to shape the discussions surrounding this high-profile case.
