Temporary lane closures on Chenal Parkway expected to cause significant delays for drivers between Hermitage Road and Bowman Road

Little Rock, Arkansas – Drivers in the Little Rock area are being warned to expect delays on Chenal Parkway as temporary lane closures are scheduled for the installation of permanent pavement markings. The closures will begin on Saturday, November 15, and continue through Tuesday, November 18, affecting sections of the roadway between Hermitage Road and Bowman Road.

According to city officials, lanes will be closed intermittently each day starting after 9 a.m., creating potential slowdowns during peak travel times. The City of North Little Rock is urging motorists to remain patient and plan for extra travel time while crews complete the work.

“The City of North Little Rock advises drivers to proceed slowly through the work zone and use alternate routes to avoid delays,” officials said. The work is intended to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow once the permanent markings are in place.

Motorists are encouraged to pay close attention to signage and follow all directions from flaggers and construction personnel to ensure the safety of both drivers and workers. Lane closures of this nature are temporary, but even short interruptions can create significant traffic backups during busy periods.

While the project is expected to cause delays, city officials emphasize that completing the pavement markings is a necessary step for long-term traffic management. Drivers familiar with the area are encouraged to consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules to minimize disruptions.

Officials noted that intermittent lane closures will allow crews to work efficiently without fully shutting down traffic, but delays should still be anticipated. The work will proceed daily, weather permitting, with crews working as quickly as possible to reduce the impact on commuters.

Residents and visitors in the area are reminded to remain vigilant and exercise caution while traveling through the work zone. The City of North Little Rock continues to prioritize both public safety and timely completion of roadway improvements, aiming to make the road safer and more efficient for daily commuters once the project concludes.

Drivers are advised to monitor traffic updates and local news outlets for any changes in the schedule or unexpected delays related to the ongoing pavement marking project on Chenal Parkway.
