Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will host a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements to two intersections on Highway 49 in Brookland. The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Brookland High School, located at 220 West School Street, Brookland, Arkansas. Residents, local stakeholders, and anyone interested in the project are encouraged to attend and provide feedback.
The meeting is designed to give the public an opportunity to review the proposed intersection improvements and share their thoughts. ARDOT representatives will present project details, including potential design changes and expected impacts on traffic flow and safety. Participants will have the chance to ask questions, learn more about the plans, and submit comments either in person or through online or mailed forms.
“This meeting allows residents and community members to engage with ARDOT and provide valuable input on proposed intersection improvements,” said a department spokesperson. “Public feedback is an essential part of our planning process and helps ensure that projects meet the needs of the community.”
Meeting materials are available online for those who wish to review the plans before attending. Comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025. Residents can submit their input using online comment forms or by printing and mailing forms to ARDOT’s Environmental Division at P.O. Box 2261, Little Rock, AR 72203-2261.
For community members who do not have internet access or need additional assistance, ARDOT has provided a contact for questions. Matt Strawn can be reached at 501-569-2281 or via email at [email protected] to discuss the proposed project or to get help with submitting feedback.
The planned improvements to Highway 49 intersections aim to enhance traffic safety and efficiency for drivers, pedestrians, and local residents. ARDOT emphasizes that public involvement is a critical step in the project’s development and encourages community members to participate actively in the discussion.
This meeting is part of ARDOT’s ongoing commitment to transparency and collaboration with local communities. By gathering input from Brookland residents and other stakeholders, the department seeks to ensure that the improvements reflect the needs and priorities of those who use Highway 49 daily. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting, ask questions, and provide feedback to help shape the future of the intersections and the surrounding transportation network.
