Registration for Arkansas’ 2025 alligator hunting season opens soon with exciting opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts

Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas hunters will soon get their shot at participating in one of the state’s most unique outdoor traditions. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) announced that registration for the 2025 alligator hunting season will officially open at 8 a.m. on June 15.

Those interested in applying for a permit will have until midnight on July 14 to submit their application online at AGFC.com. Permits will be limited and apply to one of ten designated public land hunting zones located across the southern portion of the state.

Each successful applicant will be allowed to harvest one alligator during the season, with a strict requirement that the animal must be at least four feet in length. According to AGFC officials, this ensures that only mature gators are taken, which helps manage the population in a sustainable way.

“This is a highly regulated hunt,” AGFC representatives emphasized. “We want it to be safe, fair, and beneficial for wildlife management in Arkansas.”

The official alligator hunting season will run across two separate weekends: September 19 through September 22, and again from September 26 through September 29. During that time, hunters will only be permitted to hunt between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise.

In addition to securing a permit, all participating hunters must complete an online orientation course. The course is required to ensure that hunters are fully informed about the rules, regulations, and safety protocols of hunting alligators in the state.

Arkansas’s controlled alligator season is one of the most anticipated wildlife events of the year, drawing attention from sportsmen across the region. While alligator hunting in Arkansas is relatively limited in scope, the opportunity to pursue these large reptiles remains a thrilling experience for outdoor enthusiasts.

For full details about regulations, public hunting areas, and the application process, residents are encouraged to visit the AGFC’s official website.

As fall approaches, the countdown begins for another season of adrenaline-filled nights in Arkansas swamplands.
