Little Rock, Arkansas – Two men are now in custody following the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in Little Rock earlier this May. Police announced the arrests on Thursday, nearly four weeks after the deadly incident occurred in the early morning hours on Cross Street.
According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers responded to a shooting just after 5:30 a.m. on May 3 in the 3000 block of Cross Street. When officers arrived, they found Sergio Toney suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate efforts by paramedics to save him, Toney died at the scene.
Not long after the shooting, police learned that three other adults had arrived at local hospitals on their own, all believed to be connected to the same violent event. Their conditions were not released, but the details contributed to the ongoing investigation.
Weeks of work by detectives led to a breakthrough. On May 30, police arrested 18-year-old Brodie Hill and 20-year-old Dylon Andrews. Both are now facing charges of capital murder in connection to Toney’s death. In addition, Hill is facing an additional charge of first-degree battery.
“It’s always tragic to see a young life taken in such a violent way,” said a department spokesperson. “Our detectives have worked nonstop since the incident, and while the arrests bring some progress, this case is far from over.”
“The investigation into this incident remains ongoing, and we will update with more information as soon as it becomes available,” police stated.

The motive behind the shooting has not been released, and authorities are still encouraging anyone with information to come forward. As the case develops, the community continues to search for answers surrounding the deadly events of that morning.
Residents in the area say they’re shaken by the violence and hope the arrests mark a step toward justice for Toney and his family.
