Little Rock Trojans baseball team earns NCAA Tournament spot and prepares for Baton Rouge Regional battle

Little Rock, Arkansas – After a thrilling underdog run in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament, the Little Rock Trojans baseball team is officially headed to the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in program history. Their destination is Baton Rouge, where powerhouse and No. 6 national seed LSU will play host to one of the most competitive regionals in the country.

The Trojans clinched their spot in the tournament by winning the OVC Tournament last week, a stunning achievement after entering the postseason as the No. 8 seed. Fighting through adversity, including a season filled with injuries and streaky performances, Little Rock pulled off five wins in just four days to claim the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Now, the Trojans are the 4-seed in the Baton Rouge Regional, where they’ll face a tough draw that includes LSU, 2-seed Dallas Baptist, and 3-seed Rhode Island. Their first game is set for Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. against LSU, with the action broadcast on the SEC Network.

This marks a significant moment for the Little Rock baseball program, which last appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2011. That year, they competed in the Corvallis Regional but went 0-2 and were quickly eliminated. This time, the team is looking to change the narrative.

The road to Baton Rouge wasn’t easy. The Trojans struggled with consistency throughout the season, often battling key injuries and hitting both winning and losing streaks. But when it mattered most, they delivered. Their gritty performance in the OVC Tournament showed their potential and resilience.

With their season extended and their hopes high, the Little Rock Trojans will now try to keep the magic alive in Baton Rouge. Facing one of the top teams in the country is no small task, but the Trojans have already proven they know how to surprise people when the odds are stacked against them.
