The American Red Cross will open Disaster Assistance Centers across Arkansas to help those affected by recent severe storms

Jonesboro, Arkansas – As Arkansas communities continue recovering from recent tornadoes, flooding, and violent storms, the American Red Cross is stepping in to help residents get back on their feet. Starting this week, the organization will open several Disaster Assistance Centers to provide in-person support and assess eligibility for financial aid.

The temporary centers will be set up in three cities hit hardest by the severe weather: West Memphis, Little Rock, and Hardy. Residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed can visit these locations to speak directly with Red Cross representatives, ask questions, and begin the process of applying for assistance.

The Red Cross shared, “The American Red Cross will open Disaster Assistance Centers this upcoming week.” These centers are intended to serve as a resource for families in need of help navigating recovery options after the recent string of natural disasters.

The schedule for the centers is as follows:

• Hardy: Wednesday, May 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Historic Old Hardy Gym, 201 School Ave.
• West Memphis: Tuesday, May 6, and Wednesday, May 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Roberta Jackson Neighborhood Center, 1300 E. Polk Ave.
• Little Rock: Thursday, May 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Little Rock Red Cross Office, 2610 Stackleford Rd, Suite B.

Those unable to attend in person can still register for aid online. “Anyone who needs information and would like to register for financial assistance is asked to stop by or fill out the form on this link to begin the registration process: www.redcross.org/gethelp.

In addition to financial help, the Red Cross may provide further resources depending on an individual’s situation. Anyone with questions about what qualifies for assistance is encouraged to visit the organization’s website or call the helpline at 1-800-RED-CROSS.

With cleanup efforts still underway in many parts of the state, these centers offer a lifeline for those facing weeks or even months of rebuilding. The Red Cross urges impacted residents not to delay in seeking help.
