Arkansas State Police launch investigation into double homicide after two bodies found in Independence County home

Batesville, Arkansas – The Arkansas State Police are currently investigating a double homicide in Independence County after two women were found dead in a Batesville home earlier this week. On Tuesday, authorities were called to perform a welfare check at a residence located in the 1600 block of Old Camp Road. What they discovered would quickly lead to a major criminal investigation.

According to a statement from officials, deputies with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene first. Upon entering the home, they discovered the bodies of two women, later identified as 53-year-old Teresa Owens Nelson and 71-year-old Patricia Anderson. Both women were found deceased, and their deaths are now under investigation as a possible double homicide.

As of now, the Arkansas State Police have not released the names of any suspects in the case. The investigation is being led by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Arkansas State Police, and agents are working closely with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office to piece together the events surrounding the deaths.
