Three deputies from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office graduate after completing rigorous 13-week law enforcement course

Jefferson County, Arkansas – On April 17, 2025, three new deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) marked a significant milestone in their careers as they graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden, AR. Deputies Alec Hoffman, Cameron McCaskill, and Cierra Washington have completed a demanding 13-week program designed to equip law enforcement officers with the essential skills needed to serve in Arkansas.

The training course, which spans 649 hours, is a comprehensive program that covers a wide range of topics to prepare recruits for the responsibilities they will face on the job. This course focuses on the fundamental duties of law enforcement officers, including criminal law, emergency response, defensive tactics, and ethical policing. Upon successfully finishing the course, the new deputies will enter a probationary period of one year before earning their certification as full law enforcement officers in the state of Arkansas.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office took to social media to express its pride in the graduates’ achievements. “We are proud of Deputies Hoffman, McCaskill, and Washington for their hard work, resilience, and dedication displayed during this training period,” the post read. “We look forward to seeing them move forward in their career as a law enforcement officer with the JCSO.”

The graduation of these three deputies marks an important step for both the individuals and the community they serve. As the newest members of the JCSO, Deputies Hoffman, McCaskill, and Washington are set to begin their careers with the department, bringing fresh energy and commitment to law enforcement in the region.
