Pine Bluff’s chief of police, Denise Richardson, has been unexpectedly let go from her position, leaving the department without a leader

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The position of chief of police for the Pine Bluff Police Department is now vacant following the unexpected dismissal of Chief Denise Richardson. Officials confirmed that Richardson was let go from her role on Monday, leaving many in the department and the community in shock.

Lieutenant DeShawn Bennett, a member of the Pine Bluff Police Department, spoke highly of Richardson in a heartfelt message following the news of her departure. “Chief Richardson has been more than a leader to me during my time with the department—she’s been a mentor, an inspiration, and a steady presence in times of uncertainty. Her dedication to this city and to the people who serve it has left a lasting mark,” Bennett said. “Praying for Chief Richardson as she faces this unexpected and difficult transition. Thank you for everything you’ve poured into this department and this community. Your impact will not be forgotten.”
