Full weekend closures on Interstate 57 in Jacksonville as crews begin major widening project between Main Street and North James Street

Jacksonville, Arkansas – Construction along Highway 67/167 (Interstate 57) in Jacksonville will cause full weekend closures, as crews work on a major highway widening project. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has announced that starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 7, and continuing through Saturday, March 8, there will be full closures of the highway between Main Street and North James Street.

The closures are part of a larger initiative to expand the highway to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard. The northbound lanes of Highway 67/167 will be closed during this period for drainage improvements. Drivers traveling in this area will be detoured off the highway at Exit 9, onto Main Street, where they will continue along the frontage road before entering the North James Street on-ramp to continue their journey northbound on the highway.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation is encouraging motorists to be extra cautious while navigating the area. Traffic will be diverted using message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and clear signage to guide drivers through the work zone safely. Officials urge all drivers to pay close attention to the signs and follow the detour instructions to avoid delays.

This construction is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program, which aims to improve infrastructure and support the growing transportation needs of the state. For more information on the ongoing project, or for updates on other roadwork in the area, drivers can visit the official website at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays during the weekend closures as this essential work continues to enhance the highway’s capacity for future traffic demands.
