Jefferson County investigators arrest suspect for attempted jail contraband smuggling

Jefferson County, Arkansas – A vigilant investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has led to the arrest of a suspect attempting to smuggle contraband into the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center (DBDC). Authorities confirmed the arrest of 51-year-old Tiwanna White after jail personnel intercepted illicit substances hidden in an everyday hygiene product.

Contraband Discovered in Soap Dispenser

On March 1, 2025, investigators from the Tri-County Drug Task Force and the JCSO Criminal Investigation Division launched an inquiry into an attempt to introduce illegal substances into the detention center. The contraband, including approximately 55 grams of suspected K-2 and 25 grams of suspected marijuana, was concealed inside a liquid soap dispenser. Alert jail staff detected the prohibited items and promptly reported them to investigators, preventing them from reaching inmates.

Following a swift investigation, authorities identified White as the primary suspect. Two days later, on March 3, investigators arrested her on probable cause for violating Arkansas Code A.C.A. 5-54-119, which pertains to furnishing prohibited articles. White has since been booked into DBDC and is awaiting a probable cause hearing at a later date.

Sheriff Commends Staff’s Vigilance

Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr. praised the diligence of the detention center staff and investigators for their efforts in maintaining security within the facility.

“While this continues to be an ongoing challenge for our jail staff, they have not been deterred in making every effort to ensure our facility is the safest possible. Their continued vigilance and dedication to duty continue to shine. Our investigators are relentless in the pursuit of justice and don’t quit until they have found their suspects. I continue to be proud of all of their actions and dedication to bringing justice to those who choose to commit these crimes,” Sheriff Woods stated.

A Warning to Potential Offenders

Authorities are making it clear that such attempts to smuggle contraband into correctional facilities will not be tolerated. Sheriff Woods issued a strong warning to individuals considering similar actions.

“Let this once again be a message to those who seek to undermine the safety and security of our detention facilities. We will use every resource we have and make every effort to make sure those who commit such acts are found, charged, and prosecuted.”

Ongoing Efforts to Combat Contraband Smuggling

Smuggling contraband into correctional facilities remains a persistent issue, but JCSO continues to implement stringent security measures and thorough investigative procedures to combat the problem. The sheriff’s office remains committed to preventing such breaches and ensuring that the detention center operates with the highest level of security.

With White’s arrest, investigators reaffirm their dedication to maintaining order and ensuring that all individuals who attempt to introduce illegal items into the facility are held accountable. The case remains under investigation, and further updates may follow as authorities continue their efforts to uphold justice in Jefferson County.
