During Super Bowl LIX, Johnny Cash, a native of Arkansas, sang a song in the commercial

Little Rock, Arkansas – The ads are one of the most entertaining aspects of viewing the Super Bowl with loved ones, even for non-sports fans.

Johnny Cash, who was born in Arkansas, had a song in a commercial during the second quarter of Super Bowl LIX.

The website HeGetsUs.com used the song “Personal Jesus,” which is a cover of a 1989 Depeche Mode hit, in an advertisement.

In the commercial, Cash’s iconic voice is heard after the question, “What is greatness?” comes on the screen.

The song is accompanied by images of people supporting one another in different ways, and the commercial concludes with the words “Jesus showed us what greatness really is” and “He Gets Us.” Every one of us.

The post office in Kingsland, Arkansas was named after Cash in 2024, and he was honored once more when his statue was unveiled at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., alongside civil rights activist Daisy Bates.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed the statue during its unveiling and commended him for being genuine.

According to the governor, “he was open about straddling the border between clean-cut Johnny and cast down Cash in an era when most musicians’ images were carefully curated.” “Johnny Cash was very real in a world where so much is fake.”

Cash recorded a number of covers on his 2002 album American IV: The Man Comes Around, including “Personal Jesus” and the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt,” which won a Grammy for Best Short Form Video, even though he was best-known for his songs like “Walk the Line” and “Ring of Fire.”
