North Little Rock, Arkansas – Donald Trump has started to crack down on unauthorized immigrants living in the United States just one week into his presidency.
Trump said in an executive order a few days ago that officers will not be prohibited from making immigration arrests at hospitals, schools, or places of worship. A policy that had been in effect since 2011 was repealed by this directive.
Many families across the country, including those in Arkansas, are now unsure about the safety of sending their kids to school as a result of this.
The North Little Rock School District (NLRSD) sent out a message to staff and families about immigration and customs enforcement in their district due to the executive order that is now in effect.
The school system stated that they cherish the variety of backgrounds that comprise the district and are committed to providing a secure environment for children.
“The North Little Rock School District is dedicated to giving every student, regardless of color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, or immigration status, a safe and supportive learning environment. The diversity of our children’ and staff’s faces is what makes our school system so beautiful. Our kids are exposed to a variety of cultures as a result of this diversity, which broadens their perspective and fosters tolerance for individuals from other origins. Since each student’s unique dynamics and path shape who they are, we cherish them,” the letter stated.
Additionally, the letter conveyed empathy for the worries that children and families may be experiencing. They underlined that prejudice is not tolerated and that they will continue to be a safe place for impacted families and children.
“We recognize that some of our families are worried about deportation and immigration. We are aware that regulations can change at any time, but we are unsure of how immigration and deportation laws will be completed. The letter says, “Please know that no matter what happens, the North Little Rock School District will be a reliable resource for impacted students and families and will give our families the direction and guidance they need.”
The school district guarantees that no one will have access to student information, including immigrant status.
“No one will be given access to student information, including their family members’ immigration status. We go above and beyond to make sure that we fulfill our obligation to protect the private information of our pupils. But the North Little Rock School District will respect and adhere to all state and federal laws,” they declared.
