A polar plunge held in Saline County to raise money for Special Olympics Arkansas

Benton, Arkansas – For Saturday morning’s Salt Bowl Polar Plunge for Special Olympics in Saline County, the weather delivered on its promise.

The courageous participants braved the freezing water and wind to swim in Hurricane Lake.

The plunge on Saturday helped Special Olympics Arkansas raise nearly $10,000.

Their goal is to give athletes with special needs access to year-round sports instruction and competition.

For a worthy cause, elected officials even joined in the fun.

Chris Treat, the mayor of Bryant, remarked, “It was a great event, amazing job.” “I’m obviously proud to be a part of it and a huge fan of everything they do.”

“Let the good times be cold” was the theme for Saturday.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run hosted the Salt Bowl Polar Plunge.
