Little Rock’s Gobbler Turkey Trot will begin Thanksgiving Day celebrations at a new venue

Little Rock, Arkansas – With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, the Gobbler Turkey Trot race may be the ideal event for Arkansans who want to burn off the calories after the large feast.

Rock City Running’s Gobbler Turkey Trot is in its thirteenth year this year, but it’s being held in a brand-new venue for the first time.

To begin Thanksgiving Day celebrations, runners have congregated in the The Heights area for years.

The race will start this year in the Market Place Shopping Center, which is located off of Rodney Parham.

Although admission to the celebration is free, runners are asked to donate non-perishable goods to the Arkansas Food Bank.

More than 1,000 people have attended the event, according to the organizers, and more than 12,000 meals have been donated to the Food Bank.

The following is a list of items that the Food Bank needs:

• Cornbread/stuffing mix
• canned meat
• cranberry sauce
• canned veggies
• mashed potato mix
• canned/instant gravy
• canned sweet potatoes
• mac and cheese
• canned fruit
• canned pumpkin
• NO homemade or glass items.

The event this year consists of 3, 4, and 6.5-mile runs. At 8 a.m., runs start.

According to early estimates, Thursday morning will be cool and dry, making it ideal for an early morning run. There is little to no chance of rain, and highs are in the low 50s.

Although there is no registration needed to join in the fun, the organizers claim that donations help them pay for things like hydration stations, police support, insurance, and porta-potties. At the event, participants can register.
