Patients wait in line for a free screening for lung cancer

Jonesboro, Arkansas – St. Bernards held a lung cancer screening at the Imaging Center on Saturday in honor of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, which falls in November.

Patients had to be between the ages of 50 and 77, have a history of smoking, and be asymptomatic in order to be eligible.

Kim Griggs, a lung navigator, emphasized the value of screening and the life-saving potential of early detection.

“We are aware that the best results come from early cancer detection. The key to a successful prognosis is any screening, whether it be for lung or breast health, she stated.

According to Griggs, there was a queue of people waiting to get screened, and this is the third screening they have conducted in the past year.
