$14,000 in back wages are recovered by a U.S. Department of Labor division following an investigation

Little Rock, Arkansas – Following an investigation, the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor discovered that Methodist Family Health had terminated an employee in violation of the Family Medical Leave Act.

The initiative recovered $14,082 in overdue wages, according to a release.

Hanz Grunauer, the Wage and Hour District Director in Little Rock, stated that “the Family Medical Leave Act allows eligible employees to care for themselves or their families without fear of losing their jobs.”

“The U.S. Department of Labor will defend worker protections and flexibilities protected by law and pursue all available remedies when those rights are violated.”

The employee was eligible for parental leave following the birth of their child and 12 weeks of protected leave due to a serious medical condition.

Regardless of location, employers and employees can contact the Wage and Hour Division’s toll-free helpline at 866-4US-WAGE (487-9243) for confidential compliance advice.
