Ahead of the holidays, gas costs are still declining

Jonesboro, Arkansas – Gas prices are giving many Americans something to be grateful for as Thanksgiving approaches.

Arkansas’s average gas price dropped 2.3 cents to $2.68 a gallon last week, according to a weekly survey of 1,826 stations conducted by GasBuddy.com.

Prices have dropped 22.6 cents from the previous year and 10.1 cents from a month ago.
At $3.03, the national average dropped 2.6 cents a gallon.

According to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, “gas prices have remained the same despite the election, with the national average price of gasoline falling for a fourth consecutive week as seasonal demand weakens and Americans start to seek shelter from falling temperatures.”

Although “some may be surprised by the declines,” he pointed out that GasBuddy’s annual Fuel Outlook, which was published last December, had predicted the decline.

According to De Haan, the national average will soon drop below $3 a gallon.

“For which a lot of Americans will be grateful as Thanksgiving approaches,” he said.
