McRae Elementary School receives a $5,000 grant from Entergy Arkansas to provide a more accessible playground

Searcy, Arkansas – With the aid of an Entergy Arkansas grant, McRae Elementary School in Searcy will endeavor to create a playground that is more accessible for kids with disabilities.

According to Entergy Arkansas officials, the school received a $5,000 donation from the firm to buy two inclusive playground equipment items.

According to company representatives, the items will include the Nova Playful Bench, which enables kids to sit while playing with others, and the Aro Spinning Chair, which helps those in wheelchairs.

“An inclusive playground gives kids the chance to engage with each other in person and use their imagination, and learning cooperation and how the world functions are priceless life skills that start during play,” stated Heather Franks, principal of McRae Elementary School. “The playground will have developmentally appropriate challenges that meet children where they are and allow them to comfortably build on the skills they already possess by providing a variety of options.”

According to company representatives, Entergy Arkansas has given almost $500,000 to a number of charity organizations throughout the state, supporting initiatives including food pantries, disaster response, and scholarships.
