Benton, Arkansas – Setting its sights on Arkansas, where it intends to open its first shop in the state, Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based gas station and convenience store behemoth, is bringing its distinctive service and products right to the people of the Natural State. Buc-ee’s, well-known for its vastness, countless gas stations, and bewildering selection of snacks and conveniences, has grown to be a popular road trip fixture in many states. The city of Benton is now on the map next.
Officially, this new endeavor was unveiled in a very energetic manner—during a Benton local high school football game—complete with a video message from Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. A point of great communal pride, the game saw the Governor verifying the rumors that had been floating around for months.
“It’s been rumored for months, but it’s time to make it official. Buc-ee’s is coming to Arkansas, and Saline County, right in the heart of our state, will be its home,” Hucabee Sanders said in a video announcement reported by KTHV in Little Rock and broadcast before the Salt Bowl, a battle between high schools in Saline County’s two largest cities, Benton and Bryant. “Arkansans and visitors won’t have to leave our state to enjoy this must-visit pit stop.”
The chosen location for the new Buc-ee’s is strategic, positioned off Interstate 30 at exit 114, roughly 25 miles southwest of Little Rock. This location is expected to attract not only residents but also visitors passing through the area, giving them an opportunity to enjoy what many Texans swear by—a must-visit pit stop known for clean bathrooms, freshly made food, and a large range of merchandise from brisket sandwiches to homemade fudge.
Sharing in the buzz during the announcement, Benton’s mayor pointed out that Buc-ee’s presence marks a major change for the community. As soon as the last permits are approved, building is scheduled to start. This project aims to bring employment and strengthen the local economy, not alone increase the footprint of Buc-ee. Covering around 75,000 square feet and including more than 100 petrol pumps, the Benton site is expected to be almost record-breaking in scale. It is a significant local employer, expected to provide roughly 225 job positions.
From its modest origins in Clute, Texas, in 1982, Buc-ee’s has expanded rapidly, currently having outlets throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee among other states. Renowned for their size, the Benton store will almost break a new record for the business, closely behind the biggest Buc-ee’s in Luling, Texas.
Beyond simple convenience, the excitement for this new business is a cultural insertion putting a bit of Texas history to Arkansas ground. With brand supporters celebrating the announcement on social media and local venues, the community’s reaction has been overwhelmingly good. Buc-ee’s fan following develops as it keeps growing, excited about the opening day in 2025 when the doors will open to a fresh chapter in Arkansas retail and travel convenience.
